Youre looking in the wrong place in the desert here.
This is unnoted on the wiki, but the underground desert is actually split in half, having an upper and bottom half. The loot that is contained in the sandstone chests actually changes depending on what half it was generated in. Only sandstone chests in the upper half can contain the acient chisel and youre too low for that in this clip since youre already at lava level.
This may sound like a basic lie since not even the official wiki contains this information, but I tested it on 2 different large worlds, opening over 35 sandstone chests on the upper half and over 25 on the bottom half and I only found acient chisels in the chests from the top half.

ALSO, for anyone who wants to farm surface mimics, use Gold Flasks. They're crafter with gold dust (sold by the merchant) & water bottles at the Imbuing Station (sold by the Witch Doctor). You can either use a melee weapon or a whip to apply it to enemies, giving them the Midas debuff, that makes it so after you kill an enemy they drop 10-49% more coins after they die.

Good news, you don’t need the Dryad for it, just shimmer vile powder or vicious powder and you’ll get your hands on it.
In fact, this is the only way you can purify blocks on remix/zenith seeds without another world. The clentaminator isn’t sold, and neither is the solution for it (not even the dark blue solution from the truffle) and the same goes for powders.
You will have to craft it all if you do one of those worlds, though because she doesn’t sell any powder under any circ*mstances.

I've done several playthroughs where I spammed dynamite until all of the corruption was gone before hardmode :D

You could just mine it in pre-hardmode if you got tissue samples for the crimson pickaxe from brain's minions (without killing the brain itself, so the dryad won't arrive). That way you wouldn't need to deal with the second crimson spawned in hardmode.

10:00 Fun fact: Skeletron is actually a requirement for Moon Lord. ML has two spawn methods:
1. Lunar Events. This requires defeating Lunatic Cultist, who can't be summoned until after you've beaten Skeletron (as the old man has spawn priority over the cultists).
2. Celestial Sigil. While it can be used after defeating Golem, the spawn materials and crafting station are also post-Cultist.
So if you went for the Terraformer, you'd have to kill Skeletron, whereas he's only optional with the Clentaminator.

There is a pretty nice tip for saving up a decent amount of money on solutions for the clentaminator.
The solutions are effectively ammo for the clentaminator,so what I'd reccomend using ranger armor made from mythril or adamantite(20 and 25 percent respectively),an ammo box from the traveling merchant,as long as you can get your hands on it,an ammo reservation potion crafted from just a double cod and a moonglow,the costs for this setup aren't horendously high and I think it's just about worth it to save yourself the trouble of grinding for money.

Getting ranger armor and ammo reservation potions would have saved you some money, since the colored solutions are affected by ammo consumption buffs.

There's a Biome Sight potion that you can make that shows all infected blocks. Found out it existed recently, and it'd help out for anything else you do with the biomes

about the terraformer:
the cultists can only spawn after skeletron is dead (the item to spawn moon lord requires pillars), and if you were paying attention, you'll remember that skeletron is one of the bosses that isn't allowed to be defeated
meaning, gungnir couldn't use the terraformer, even if he wanted to
edit after watching 3 more seconds in: ...huh. forgot you could just. remove viable housing

Another argument against the Terraformer is that ML is post-Skeletron. The cultists won't spawn if Skeletron hasn't been defeated. But you did later manage to work around boss issues, so it's not a dealbreaker.

I'm surprised that this didn't happen:
- You place tunnels every 120 blocks because the Clentaminator has 60 range and you can fire both ways from a tunnel
- Going down one tunnel, you purify the 60 blocks on one side of a 120 block section
- You move to the next tunnel
- In the interim, the 60 blocks that you are just about to get to, re-corrupt some of the blocks on the edges of the area you just cleared (say 61, 62, 63)
- You go down the next tunnel and purify the other 60 blocks, but because they're out of range you miss e.g. a block at 61 that was just re-contaminated
- You move on thinking it's pure when it isn't
Yes, this is unlikely for it to happen so quickly, but given the scale of what you were doing I was surprised it didn't happen once.

Bringing up the surface mimics made me think of my "complete" master summoner run (I burned out at daytime Empress and Moon Lord, they're just, not fun)
I had a bunch of tunnels dug out into the hill near spawn to allow for more area for enemy spawns, especially for the lacewing, I had a few mimics show up as a result

Don't know if it's been said yet but you can get Purification Powder without the Dryad. Shimmer Vicious Powder or Vile Powder.
That said, it still would have been slower. Crystal Shard duplication glitch would have saved you from the mimic grind also but doing this without glitches is still cool.

I feel like any problem in this challenge can be solved by literally just not building a house for the dryad to move into.

I learned about mimics spawning during one of my eternity mode playthroughs, where I dug out a huge area and mimics started spawning (I of course just assumed it was a part of eternity, because the mod is like that)

me too because i grabbed my terraformer from another world to get that achievement in a newly made small world

you could've summoned the BoC but only kill some creepers so you get some tissues craft the deathbringer pickaxe then get hellstone and craft molten pickaxe instead of mining the tunels with an golden one :p

You can use vicious mushrooms to create the evil powder, and then shimmer the evil powder in into purification powder

You could have crafted vicious powder from the mushrooms in the Crimson, and Shimmered them into Purification powder, and done it in pre-hardmode.

Skeletron is needed to beat moon lord so terraformer would be very impractical

what i would do is get VERY specific npcs (the steampunker)and put them in houses and destroy the other houses, then defeat those bosses without letting them die

Shoutouts to that time the crimson literally broke the rules to piss me off specifically.
I had a 5 block gap around an entire crimson biome and I came back to check on it and it jumped over that 5 block gap over time.
(This was already in hard mode by the way so no that didn't cause it.)
And then the dryad decided to not give me the achievement even though the world was 100% fully cleansed.
I feel cheated.
And no there wasn't a "single block of corruption"
My entire map was unveiled from using the upgraded clentaminator with multiple hellevators throughout the world.
Sprayed it three times over, ocean walls included.

Just curious, if you just didnt have an extra house available for the dryad to move in would that not also have been a way to do the challenge? or does the dryad appear just after defeating one of the bosses, regardless of housing available

I feel like this took a bit less time than my own playthrough where I used a world that was large and I beat moonlord on to make pure. It took me over 100 hours to completely make it pure

When I did it. Just did it in journey mode for infinite bombs in prehardmode. The main part was quick. The real time came when I forgot I placed ebonstone in the air a little, as throwing points, and forgot to break them after, thinking they were wood.

I'd have gone for the reaver shark, and maybe been disappointed cause I can't keep track of patch notes

they should add a different dialogue for the dryad if you purify the world like you did!

weapon reforges don't actually effect mining speed. Mining speed is a separate variable from attack speed.

Edit:i thaight i would clarify, dynomight can be purchased in copius amounts prehardmode and can destroy large amounts of land. But after typing the comment i remembered that demon/crimson alters can spawn on evil blocks and thus prevent them from being destroyed and with no way to purify them tou would need to advance to hardmode anyways. I made a mistake.
Edit 2:fixed a typo. And also I have been notified that you can blockhead the tiles under the alter so it is in fact possible prehardmode while also doing it before the dryad spawns

I still think it would be faster and easier to do this with dynamite in pre-hardmode because you don't have the huge V shape to deal with and nothing spreads apart from grass.

i think you can actually get purification powder without the dryad, you can shimmer the evil world powder (which are made from the evil biome`s mushroom at a bottle) to get the normal purification powder. hoever im too lazy to see if its locked to an dryad-connected event, so i dont know if its actually possible or not
