Practice Report: Takeaways from OTA No. 4 | Giants.com
The long play of the day was a pass to veteran wide receiver Allen Robinson II, who signed with the Giants earlier this month, but defensive lineman Ryder Anderson found his way into the backfield for what would have been a sack. Just before, two-time Pro Bowler Dexter Lawrence sped up a throw to force an incompletion.
Lawrence Cager was a factor on Tuesday with a few receptions from DeVito, including one for a big gain down the middle. Rookie Theo Johnson, another tight end, also got in on the action with a catch from Drew Lock.
Cornerback Deonte Banks also had a hand in a strong day for the defense, forcing an incompletion of his own. The former first-round pick looks to take the next step in his second season.

14. Malik Nabers, WR, LSU Final ranking: No. 3. In the comments section last summer, I was told I was “too high” on Nabers. In hindsight, I actually was much too low. That changed, as Nabers eventually finished as a top-three prospect for me. The Giants drafted a special player.
Were Vikings contemplating a trade up for Malik Nabers — and a trade of Justin Jefferson? | Pro Football Talk
“Pssst,” wrote Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. “There was buzz at draft time that the Vikings wanted to move from No. 11 to No. 5, not to pick a quarterback but to get LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers, who was picked No. 6 by the Giants. Had that trade occurred, Jefferson would have been traded and Nabers would have been the No. 1 receiver.”

TE: Theo Johnson, New York Giants. I really liked how Theo Johnson performed at the Senior Bowl, and he’s coming off a really nice year at Penn State, as well. He caught 34 passes and seven touchdowns in 2023, and proved himself as one of the best tight ends in the country. I have some hesitations to give him any sort of projections considering who his quarterbacks are. However, without Darren Waller, and with a thin line of talent when it comes to pass-catchers, Johnson is going to be the top tight end on the roster and is going to get a fair share of targets.

Carmen Bricillo enters his first season as New York Giants offensive line coach without one of the staples of his past tenures: a fullback, specifically named Jakob Johnson.
Tommy DeVito among Giants players with most to gain, lose during OTAs | New York Post
If Drew Lock doesn’t clean up his nonchalant fundamentals quickly, he might find himself in a summer battle with DeVito to be the backup instead of pushing starter Daniel Jones. DeVito still holds the ball too long against the pass rush, but his arm strength pops.
A strong spring could force the Giants to start thinking ahead about how to make room for three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster so that DeVito isn’t exposed to waivers, which would mean he collects a bigger payday.

New York Giants Great Carl Banks On Bill Belichick’s Coaching Future And If He Could Return To Old Team | Forbes
“If I didn’t love Brian Daboll, I would love for Belichick to end his tenure as Giants coach — but that’s not going to happen,” says Banks. “He’s not going to be able to finish it as Giants head coach because Brian Daboll — I believe — is going to be there for awhile. He’s a bright young coach and gets today’s game and he’s actually from the Belichick and Nick Saban tree.”
And while Banks is ruling out the idea of a Belichick return to New York, he does believe the Dallas Cowboys would be an ideal landing spot if they do finally decide to part ways with Mike McCarthy.
Giants 2024 schedule: Game-by-game predictions | SNY.tv
SNY’s Connor Hughes assessing the Giants going into Year 3 of the Daboll/Schoen Era:
You feel for Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen a little bit. They exceeded expectations with every possible lucky break of the football their first year, falling almost backward into a playoff appearance and victory over Minnesota. It gave a false sense of how close they were to contention.
The Giants are headed in the right direction. Their roster was just in such dire shape post-Dave Gettleman that it was going to take years to rebuild. This is still in the infancy stage of that. It’s going to take time.
Every NFL team’s highest-graded rookie since 2006 | PFF
Odell Beckham’s 2014 season was one of the best in NFL history for a rookie wide receiver. Despite missing the first four games of the year with a hamstring injury, Beckham caught 91 passes for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns. From Weeks 9-17, the LSU product recorded at least 90 yards in every game, passing the 100-yard mark seven times. His 3.14 yards per route run and 14 forced missed tackles in the second half of the season led all wide receivers.
